:: EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH :: |
The educational Outreach Department of Kėklos Teatro works in three directions in relation to the curriculum of elementary, middle school, and high school-aged students:
- the production of educational theatre shows for schools
- workshops specifically devised for students
- educational seminars specifically devised for students, teachers & educators
The aim of Kėklos Educational Outreach is to promote throughout the region, especially in schools, artistic and training experiences that are specifically based on our pedagogy of corporeal creativity. Our theater education experience and practice places the body and the gesture at the centre of the creative process. The body is the seat of sensitivity and therefore the main instrument of artistic creation and social communication. By means of the body we enter into a communal examination of the imitation-representation-invention of reality,thereby creating a setting for learning that incorporates the best ways to engage the emotive, intuitive and affective dimension of each individual.
The theatrical experience is therefore not only an artistic and poetic initiation for participants but a journey of personal development. It provides children and adults with instruments through which they can better understand themselves, their bodies and emotions and the limitless possibility of expression through the language of gestures. As a result, this work stimulates self confidence, trust within group work and a greater capacity for communication and expression that consequently establishes a more engaging and satisfying scholastic environment.
Our working approach envisages training as a practical experience. Throughout the coursework, participants are encouraged to explore their bodies and voices in an environment that cultivates enjoyment in education while stimulating the discovery and expression of the poetic world that we all carry within.
