The work of the Kėklos Teatro Organisation is a part of the vast tradition of movement theatre. The organisation's main theatrical influence is directly linked to events occurring during the last century, where movement theatre underwent a renaissance in pedagogical research and performance based in the traditions of the Commedia dell'Arte with importance focusing on improvisation and expressive physicality. This period had a major focus in France with the work of Jacques Copeau, Jean Dasté and Jacques Lecoq.
Our combined theatre work retraces specifically the work of the latter and to his school, Ecole Jacques Lecoq, in Paris. All of the founders of the Kėklos Teatro Organisation have attended his school as pupils; some of which have also gone on to become teaching assistants and teachers under his direction.
Kėklos Teatro Organisation is the result of many years of research and professional theatre experience by its members. Before establishing itself definitively in the historic university town of Padua, the members of the organisation matured their artistic and pedagogic experience both in Italy and abroad. They have been working in international circles in the areas of creation, promotion, and performance of professional theatre productions and the organisation of international and nationally based theatre workshops & seminars for over a decade.
The organisation's administrative and artistic offices, complete with training facilities for the International School and rehearsal space, are located in the city's centre.
